It seems that Apple is not alone is readying a smart watch as recently leaked screen shots have revealed that South Korean electronics manufacturer, Samsung is also working on a similar sort of device. The possible name of this new device is the Samsung Galaxy Altius, as it is pretty evident in one of the screen shots. These new images have created a lot of buzz in the tech world, as people are looking to get some information about this new device from Samsung. On the other hand, unsurprisingly Samsung did not acknowledge any of these photos, as the company never comments over speculations. In spite of this, you can still know a lot about this forthcoming Samsung device thanks to this latest collection of leaked images.
It is expected that this would be a smart watch because the display of this device is clearly showing time like any other digital watch in one of the images. However, the most interesting thing about it is that this watch seems to have a cellular connectivity too apart from displaying the time, as the signal indicator of South Korean telecom carrier SKT can be clearly seen on the upper left corner of the display. What’s more is that this device appears to be running a new kind of operating system called AltiusOS, which has a tile like interface just like Windows Phone.
The alleged smart watch also looks to be capable of playing music, displaying messages and emails to the user besides receiving or making calls. But the most perplexing thing about Altius is that it is deemed to be a project for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S IV, which makes things quite confusing. Therefore, we have to wait and see if more alleged information regarding this project appears online that could shed light on the tech giant’s latest smartphone. For the time being the Samsung Galaxy Altius is perceived as a device that can handle calls, messages, email and music apart from telling the time.
Nevertheless, if this device turns out to be a smart watch then it remains to be seen, who among Apple and Samsung will introduce their smart watch first, how different their devices will be from each other and most importantly which of them offers more value to the customer.
