In a recent interview with Finnish television, the CEO of Nokia Stephen Elop, said in reply to a question about the latest Nokia Lumia 928 handset that, “there is so much good work ahead. I mean some of the beautiful phones still ahead we’re so excited about.” During the interview, Elop also described how smartphones from Nokia are making a name for themselves because of their striking designs and excellent photography results from the first-rate cameras on the phones. The Chief Executive Officer also made it known that the upcoming models of Nokia phones will amplify both these features and will only take them to the next level.
Elop also mentioned in the interview that the Finnish mobile phone maker will vend more handsets on a sequential basis during the first quarter of 2013 in contrast to what Nokia has sold in the last quarter of 2012. The CEO said, “Now we’re starting with a brand new set of products, we’re starting with low numbers but I like that Q4 was more than Q3 and I want to keep growing that and taking that to a higher and higher amount.”
In addition to this, Elop also talked about his aim for Nokia to overpower iOS device maker Apple and Galaxy S series phone producer Samsung with innovation. The innovation from Nokia can be judged from the latest features of Nokia Lumia 920 that enables its owners to take pictures even in low-light. Moreover, the Finnish handset manufacturer has developed a special screen for Lumia 920, which allows users to view it clearly even in bright sunlight. The 49-year-old executive also pointed out that the 920 screen allows users to operate its even if they are wearing gloves.
Elop said, “Well the reason we believe that is we believe we can effectively compete with those other products by emphasizing the consumer experiences, the capabilities of these devices that are better than anything else. So with the 920 when we introduced that and said, ‘boy you can take pictures in a dark room, you can see and use the bright display under the bright Finnish sunlight that we’ve been enjoying over the past few days, I can control the screen with my glove on, and on and on and on’ if we focus on that great innovation, that Nokia is so good at and if we get that into our products then we will improve it.”
During the program the interviewer kept asking Elop about the forthcoming Nokia Lumia 928, but the CEO smartly dodged these questions, as Nokia has not announced the handset yet.
