Ooomf is an app discovery platform which wants to help its users solve their biggest mobile-app related challenges. The Canadian startup’s CEO, Mikael Cho, has spent a year investigating what problems users face and is ready to unveil LaunchThisYear.com. The site will help both new and experienced entrepreneurs create a mobile application for release in 2013.
Cho explains that, “There’s a lot of entrepreneurs and innovative people that want to make an app, but it’s hard to know where to start. We want to help break down every hurdle from idea to launch and beyond.”
Cho says that his team at Ooomf saw many different types of users that got in touch with the Montreal-based startup. He says that these users can be divided in to two different categories. The first are users that have never actually developed an app for mobile devices. The second is a group that has created an app but is having issues marketing and selling their app on Apple’s App Store. Launch This Year has been developed to help people that have never created an app get the job done by using a structured and proven method.
A user needs to apply for access to Launch This Year and once they get their login they can see a personalized step-by-step guide from Ooomf tht also provides an action-based route to keep new mobile developers on track and in line to launch the app on the scheduled date.
Ooomf itself is the product of Montreal-based technology accelerator, FounderFuel. The startup launched as part of the first batch to make it through the program. They immediately convinced Real Ventures and BDC Venture Capital to $500,000 in seed-stage funding and have since provided help to thousands of users.
Cho and his team firs tried to solve a major problem of app discovery for new developers. He says that, “People were paying a lot of money for these apps but there was almost no value because people couldn’t find them in the app store. So we thought we could probably fix this and we could probably fix it for the majority of developers.”
Launch This Year seems to be the next logical step for the company who is now looking to help thousands of people create and launch their app.
