Opera showed its intentions of introducing a fresh web browser when it gave users a sneak peak of its brand new browser, Opera 15, earlier in May. The most interesting thing about the new Opera 15 is that it is powered by the latest Chromium engine, which was never before utilized by Opera. Previously the company was happy with its classic Presto engine but it seems some where along the line its changed its mind. On Tuesday, July 2nd, Opera officially launched its brand new browser for both Windows and Mac. On this occasion, the company said in a public statement that:

“The new Opera for Windows and Mac runs on a Chromium engine, so you can access all your websites in a blink of an eye and have a smoother experience when you get there, thanks to improved site compatibility.”

However, the Chromium engine is not the only new feature that Opera 15 browser boasts, as it also includes a number of new features as well. The most prominent of these new features is the Speed Dial homepage that has been refreshed, so users can create folders and do a lot more with Opera. In addition to this, a novel ‘Stash’ feature is also included in the latest Opera browser that will enable users to gather snapshots of saved web pages in a single place and return and give reference to them if required.

Besides this, Opera 15 also offers a fresh Discover feature that automatically shows users the top pieces of writing from various categories and locations they have chosen. Apart from this, the new ‘Off-road’ mode enables Opera 15 to give better performance even if the internet connection of a user is slow, which is indeed a great addition by the company.

According to the CEO of Opera Software, Lars Boilesen, “The world of fascinating web content is expanding faster than space, and we’ve delivered a browser that helps you to truly discover it. Get inspired by new ways of exploring web horizons, and stay tuned for some of our most beloved features, as we continue to develop the next generation of Opera.”

With these top class features Opera 15 is likely to lure more users than before, who could get their hands on the new browser without paying a single penny, as the company has made it available free of charge. Let’s hope that Opera will be able to give a new browsing experience to users with the launch of the Opera 15.
