In the Yaletown area of Vancouver, there is a forward thinking hotel that is aggressively integrating Apple technology into their customer experience. After becoming the first hotel to feature an iPad 2 in every one of their rooms, the boutique hotel, Opus has decided to step it up a notch with iPhones being placed in all of their rooms as well.

The iPhones will replace the standard hotel room phone, allowing a completely mobile device that serves as a point for guests to be contacted at as well as use as they see fit as they explore B.C.’s most populated city. All local calling both incoming and outgoing is free of charge, as is data as long as guests check in using the hotel’s website.

For those who are more cautious than others, the iPhones will be wiped completed clean both in terms of data and usage as well as the physical phone itself for hygienic reasons. Moves like this have garnered Opus Vancouver various awards including TripAdvisor’s Travellers Choice Award as Canada’s trendiest hotel (ranking a very respectable fifth worldwide) for 2012. The iPhones should all be in place by the end of this month, making this the world’s first hotel to offer Apple’s Smartphone for all guests. The move provides Opus with a distinct competitive advantage on both a domestic and global scale.
