Mobile neuro app developer, Personal Neuro Devices, launched a new application on Wednesday, February 20th that is called Transcend. The new app enables users to get actual neuro-feedback from their meditation time so they can check the quality of their sessions. Transcend is basically an Android app that works in combination with the “Bluetooth-enabled MindWave Mobile headset” of NeuroSky, enabling the user to enhance their mediation practices with the passage of time by keeping a track of its duration and quality along with the other metrics. According to TechVibes, “by using these metrics, Transcend can tell when a user is successfully achieving meditative states regularly, or whether a user may benefit from an alternative form of meditation.” The Ottawa-based company says that by recording and measuring meditative sessions, users can not only keep track of their progress but they also get confirmation through the app that their meditation practice has been effective.
The company claims that, “Unlike other meditation apps available today, Transcend directly measures neural activity and takes into account the different ways that people meditate. It includes meditation guides for users new to the practice, or more experienced users looking to try a different style. Transcend’s ability to provide personalized feedback and suggest improvements for more effective meditation can benefit users of any experience level.”
According to the CTO and co-founder at Personal Neuro Devices, Tony Gaitatzis said, “This is the first mobile meditation app that gives constructive feedback based on actual neuro-imaging. Transcend incorporates proprietary brain-activity-analysis algorithms and is based on research studies with individuals who are new to the practice of mediation as well as experienced users.”
CEO of NeuroSky, Stanley Yang said, “We are very pleased to collaborate with Personal Neuro Devices to bring Transcend to market. Transcend will significantly extend and enhance the usefulness and benefits of the MindWave Mobile headset to many new users.”
Initially Personal Neuro Devices used to develop mobile games for Android based devices by using a brainwave-detection headset that is a product from Neurosky. The first game which the neuroscience company released, was Upcake and it was the first neurogame in the world. Later Personal Neuro Devices shifted its focus towards the development of smartphone apps that allows users to attain high level fitness and awareness about how their brain function affects their health. So it is expected that the new Android app will prove a milestone for the Canadian company.
