FleetSafer is a new addition to GPS to GO’s business geared service. The company, whose bread and butter is using GPS tracking devices to monitor and report fleet and cargo movement for transportation companies and logistical departments have added the ability for businesses to keep their drivers off of their mobile phones.

The two products now come as a package deal, allowing companies the ability to avoid liability risk by ensuring that their drivers are not texting and driving or using their handheld devices. FleetSafer, which is actually sold by Oakville’s GeoTab functions to block all calls, emails and texts to any mobile device in a vehicle once it is travelling at least 24 kilometres an hour.

FleetSafer works in concert with GPS to GO’s systems as it relies on GPS tracking to determine speed and movement. The Ottawa based company has been operating for five years, with business in the U.S., Europe and Libya.

Although take up has been slow in Canada, the firm will definitely be drawing attention with their product offering that is of increasing value to companies that rely on the transportation of cargo.
