As those of you not living under a rock have come to know, the next generation iPhone is set to be introduced to the world next week during a September 12 event (TQ was on it). The invites have been sent out and according to the good people at TechCrunch, photos show that the full set up and preparations are well under way.

The event will be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Apple’s favourite launching pad for several of their past devices. According to the pictures, Apple is hanging a giant multi-coloured Apple banner featuring the company’s iconic symbol.

The iPhone 5 is quite definitely the company’s most hotly anticipated device ever. Apple has arguably been bested by Samsung on various fronts thanks to the Korean tech company’s flagship device the Galaxy S III. The iPhone’s look and design have been established thanks to various spy shots and reports from all over the world. It will be the September 12 event that details the device’s functionality and features that distinguish it in an increasingly competitive market.

The iPhone 5 is expected to release on September 21, well in advance of the holiday season.
