Be Positive and Motivated

Negativity kills; if not, it certainly does not cure anything. It is quite easy to fall prey of negativity when you fail at anything, but by thoroughly analysing your actions you will be amazed to know that you can extract out a lot of positives even from a failure. Some people even argue that failure presents better opportunities to learn and grow rather than success.

Life is a blend of events happening around and to us. What determines our response and evaluation towards any event is our attitude (positive or negative) for it. So while we generally get drowned in the deep ocean of negativity on our failures, we must know that it is entirely up to us to select the way to react to the failure and by putting up a little more effort we might end up doing something very constructive when we fail.

It is just a matter of training our brain to stay positive and react strongly and optimistically to the failures we face. In her article at Entrepreneur, Nadia Goodman tells us some ways to train our mind to stay positive and motivated.

According to her, negative should be balanced with positive. When we are too much overwhelmed by negative, we must deliberately try to balance it out with some positive which can be attained by doing something useful and nice like expressing gratitude. There are many ways to store positive in our brain. We can write what we are thankful for, evaluate what we have and what others don’t have, remember a good deed done by or to us. The idea is to prepare our brain to accept and retain positive. This process will eventually alter our behaviour that will reflect signs of positivity.

Repetition of positive affirmations also helps a lot in staying motivated. It also helps achieve the targets you have set for yourself. For example if you want to get a job done and are unable to concentrate, you can just write it on a paper and read it daily to gain inspiration. Many budding athletes place posters of their favourite stars on the walls of their rooms to gain inspiration. Similarly, if you keep on thinking about good things, your mind will naturally react to the happenings around you in a positive way.

Challenging negative thoughts also helps. When you fail, don’t let negativity overtake you. Instead, try to distract yourself and then later objectively think about the positives. Finding ways to improve and not repeating the same mistakes again is also a good way to stay motivated.
