As the launch of the BlackBerry 10 nears, the UAE has witnessed a decrease in sales and prices of older versions of the smartphone, giving strong indication that the market is gearing up to welcome Research in Motion’s new creation that is expected to present the BlackBerry as a strong market competitor to Apple and Samsung.
Emirates 24/7 has reported that in anticipation of the BlackBerry 10, which is going to be launched on Jan 30 and might become available in the UAE markets within a couple of weeks after the launch, the market is already witnessing a decline in the rates of the older versions of the smartphone with prices reducing by 50 per cent.
The decline in the prices is not a bad omen for RIM as it is desperate to get positive response for the BlackBerry 10 and the low demand of the older versions just implies that people are waiting to get their hands on the new version. RIM has lost its market share to other smartphones, and after a number of efforts it has finally come out to launch the new version of its prime creation.
Dubai is among the six cities where the BlackBerry 10 will be launched. The price of RIM’s new version of the smartphone is expected to be somewhere between Dh2,550 to Dh3,000. The price, however, will not stay the same as it is expected to go down a bit after the launch as the company is reportedly going to present a few new models with cheaper rates.
