An Australian natural face-paint brand Pure Poppet is set to enter the US market with a revised business model, making the founder Georgia Holdich confident about the brand’s success in arguably the biggest market of the world.

Pure Poppet’s products are already available in Australia and some other parts of the world, but if it attains success in the US market then it would be a really incredible achievement for the brand that has received quite strong reviews from its customers.

When Holdich started her business she explored the Australian market first and then started selling the products in Singapore and Hong Kong last year. She received great response from these markets that prompted her to test the US market. It is not the first time that Holdich will try to enter the US market, but she has a better business model this time, giving her hopes for better results. StartupSmart quoted her as saying:

“I’ve just launched a big push for the US, and the financial stress is big. You get excited that you’re getting great feedback about the potential for the brand, but you have to invest all the money up front and hope to see the return later.” She added: “Since October last year I was working with a distributor there. But the freight costs were too hard on her margins, so she’s going to work as my agent rather than my distributor. This means there is more financial pressure on me.”

However, she is ready to bear that pressure because the products seem to be doing well in other markets of the world. She said of her business:

“It’s grown like a monster. I came up with this idea and decided to go for it and see how it went. It’s been the little start-up and now it’s getting to that next stage.”

She is also mentally prepared to face the reality if her brand does not fare well in the US. She said:

“If my agent comes back and says no one is interested there will be a loss, but the stock will come back and we can sell it here. The whole business I’ve gone with my gut feeling, and I’m prepared to risk that money and I feel good about it.”
