Quora has ambitious plans for its future and the companies CEO Adam D’Angelo has announced the he hopes to change the question and answer startup into “an Internet-scale Library of Alexandria.” This expands the sites previous mission of answering questions asked by users to an even greater source of information. The new goal of the startup means that it is going to be head to head with Google and their mission of organizing information on the web in an accessible fashion.

D’Angelo also mentioned during the announcement blog post that the “vast majority of human knowledge is still not on the Internet. Most of it is trapped in the form of experience in people’s heads, or buried in books and papers that only experts can access.”

Quora also has user generated topics on a public board and forums where user generated content is displayed. Quora might be looking to expand this sections and also taking on Twitter, WordPress, and many online publishing tools.

Quora has had an interesting year with co-founder Charlie Cheever leaving the company abruptly. He, along with D’Angelo is a Facebook alum.
