We at TQ are unashamed of our appreciation of the Raspberry Pi, the credit card sized computer that is quite popular among hobbyists and hackers. The innovative computer has now achieved another milestone, with the Linux based device launching its very own app store cleverly called The Pi Store.
Now Raspberry Pi users can get apps for their machine from the Pi Store that lists both free and purchasable apps. In addition to this, users can also upload their own content on this site for ‘moderation and release’. Moreover, this new platform offers another option for people who develop games, different tools, applications and tutorials where they can share their innovations.
At this point in time the Pi Store has 23 different items available on it such as Asterisk, LibreOffice plus games likes Iridium Rising, Freeciv and lot more. Of these 23 items, 22 are free. One game, Storm in a Teacup can be played only after paying very small amount of £1.99.
As far as the layout of the Pi Store is concerned, those, who have used Google’s Play Store of Apple’s App Store would not feel any discomfort while using it, as it is quite similar to these platforms.
The Launch of this App Store is a remarkable achievement, especially considering the fact that their low cost computer was made available in the market just nine months ago. Hopefully the launch of this Pi Store will help the cause of Raspberry Pi Foundation that focuses to provide affordable computers to people of all ages.
