The Wall Street Journal has come up with a brand new report which claims that Apple will commence the production of its next iPhone in the 2nd quarter of this year, which indicates that the possible launch of the flagship smartphone could take place in the summer. In addition, the people who are familiar with the production plans of the Cupertin-based company have also claimed that the size and the shape of the next generation iPhone is not going to be different than its predecessor (iPhone 5). Rumour also has it that the next iPhone from Apple will most probably be called the ‘iPhone 5S’.

Besides this sources also reported that Apple is certainly working on an inexpensive version of the iPhone as well and it could be seen on retail shelves as early as the second half of 2013. In the past, the Wall Street Journal has reported that Apple was developing a cheaper version of iPhone and it would be made available for sale in stores sometime during the summer of this year.

“Apple continues to work with its manufacturing partners in Asia on a less expensive iPhone that could be launched as soon as the second half of this year, these people said. The 4-inch device will likely use a different casing from the higher-end iPhone. Apple has been working on different colour shells for the phone but its plans remain unclear.”

Some recent reports have asserted that Tim Cook’s company is likely to arrange a big press meeting on June 20th, where Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 5S. Along with new flagship device the iOS device maker will also announce the release date of the next gen smartphone that may be in the following month  of July. On the other hand, the inexpensive version of the iPhone may make its debut later in August, as suggested by the latest reports.

For the past few weeks, especially after the launch of Samsung Galaxy S IV, rumours regarding the next generation of iPhone have started to come in quite fast, as recently TQ has shown you the alleged images of a future iPhone that seems to have not taken its design cues from its predecessors, as the look of the handset was completely different than the current iPhone. This has caused doubts about the device in the pictures and some claim it is not real.

Interestingly before these alleged images surfaced online, TQ unveiled a patent application from Apple, which has exposed the exact same design for future iPhones.
