After the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Home Depot has also decided to shift its smartphone provider. According to the Apple Insider the organization is looking to switch from BlackBerry smartphones to iPhone for its 10,000 workers which mainly includes managers and corporate staff at the district and store level. This news came as a surprise because BlackBerry, which was previously known as Research In Motion (RIM), has just launched its latest BlackBerry 10 hardware and software. This new platform from BlackBerry includes a brand new operating system, all-touch BlackBerry Z10 smartphone that have already hit retailer shelves and the Q10, which is a physical QWERTY keyboard smartphone, which will be made available for sale in the coming months.

At this point in time, it is unclear what made Home Depot replace its BlackBerry phones with Apple’s iPhone, but it seems that the latest product of the Canadian company was not able to impress this US-based retailer of home improvement. Nevertheless, this does not mean that Home Depot is completely switching its 60,000 store employees’ to iPhone, as for the time being they have to persist with their old Motorola handsets.

However, as far as BlackBerry is concerned this news could not come at a much worse time because the Waterloo-based smartphone maker was looking to get rid of its struggling past with the launch of its latest BB10 platform. And to make this platform successful BlackBerry has left no stone unturned, as it has developed brand new software, hardware, made more than 70,000 applications available on its app store at launch and before that gave its Dev Alpha devices to various enterprise clients and telecom carriers for testing in order to win them back with its new product. It has tried very hard to regain market share, which it had lost to Android and iOS powered devices.

But still it is too early to call the the results of the new BB10 platform of BlackBerry a flop product because the all-touch BB Z10 was made available just a week ago. More importantly the feedback of BlackBerry Dev Alpha devices was pretty encouraging and it was because those positive reviews that BlackBerry’s stock price was able to jump back in the double digit mark after hitting a low around $6. In addition to this, BlackBerry and leading Canadian telecom carrier, Rogers were able to make history by selling more BlackBerry devices than ever before on the launch day of BlakcBerry Z10. Therefore, it is hard to discard new BB10 devices over an inside report.
