In presence of Apple and Samsung, the smartphone market has left little room for other competitors to sustain, let alone occupy their market share. Still, Research in Motion, the company behind BlackBerry, believes that BlackBerry 10 will be able to sustain in the competitive market.
Talking to a German newspaper Welt, RIM chief executive Thorsten Heins not only hoped to receive positive feedback about the new BlackBerry, but he also said that the new product is designed and manufacture keeping in view the needs of the next 10 years. He said:
“We have taken the time to build a platform that is future-proof for the next ten years. Our aim is not only to smartphones, but also to the use, for example, in cars that will be in the future increasingly networked. We see with BlackBerry 10 completely new areas of growth.”
While Apple’s market has been damaged by smartphones using Google’s Android, RIM hopes to introduce a new operating system different from these two. Heins noted that his company was in contact with many other network operators and that they had received good response. He said:
“We have visited more than 100 network operators in person to introduce BlackBerry 10. The response has been extremely good, you want to have alternatives to Android, Apple and Co…”
In BlackBerry’s early days, it was used by corporate staff and managers, and its impression is still the same. However, Heins is of the view that BlackBerry is not the product designed only for a selected class. Instead, he has asserted that people all over the world are using the phone for many different purposes.
