Research In Motion is in full swing nowadays as less than a month remains before the launch of its next flagship smartphones and operating system. The Canadian company does not want to leave a single stone unturned that could possibly ruin its renaissance on January 30, 2013, when the curtain will be raised and BlackNerry 10 will make its first official appearance in front of an audience.

So far RIM has taken care of different things to make its forthcoming smartphone a hit. These necessary measures include some crucial patent agreements in order to develop new associations. In the recent past, RIM has inked a long-standing patent pact with Finnish mobile maker Nokia and now the Waterloo based company has made it known that it has signed a patent license to extend its partnership with InterDigital.

This latest agreement between RIM and InterDigital covers “4G products, including LTE and LTE-Advanced products” plus it is a global, nonexclusive, royalty-bearing exclusive rights license”. However, both companies did not give out the monetary details of this agreement.

The basic purpose of signing this deal is to serve the upcoming all-touch BlackBerry phone from RIM that will be LTE enabled, as the company has made it known before its launch. In addition to this, it is also expected that the QWERTY/Touch version of the next BlackBerry smartphone will also have the same LTE connectivity, which clearly indicates that RIM has signed this deal for its new line-up of smartphones.

Earlier, the BlackBerry PlayBook was the only device from RIM that has a 4G LTE connectivity.
