Research In Motion (RIM) has been making sure that all its efforts are on track as the deadline for the launch of its new Operating System, BlackBerry 10, and related devices are scheduled to hit the market January 30. The Canadian firm has been courting developers and hoping they can populate their ecosystem with a diverse list of apps to help attract users and make their products more useful.
RIM has showcased its BB10 to developers and has also released its SDK so that developers can get an idea of what they will be using in order to create optimal apps for the platform. It has now been announced that RIM is taking the next step in the process, as the gold version of the developer SDK for BlackBerry 10 will be launched on December 11th. This is just over one and a half months before the product announcement.
The mobile developers that have been using the Dev Alpha prototypes will now be able to get their hands on tools to build great apps for the platform. RIM has really worked hard to attract as many different types of developers as possible by offering HTML5, native C++, and also Java. This will allow developers used to any of these tools to make a submission to BlackBerry App World.
Along with the announcement of the Gold version of the SDK, a post on the Developer Blog also mentioned that the last for submissions of apps for the $10,000 developer commitment is January 21st. This is right before the BB10 announcement which is coming on January 30th along with the launch of both a touch screen and QWERTY keyboard phone.
