It is imperative that Research in Motion (RIM) integrate innovative and function features into their BB10 platform if they have any chance of regaining some of their market share that has opted for the innovative and quality products being offered by Apple and Samsung.

According to Reuters, the Waterloo-based company announced an upgraded contact management feature for their upcoming BB10 devices (TQ was on it). The aforementioned feature will integrate a plethora of contact details from various social media (Facebook and Twitter) as well as internet sources and compile them on a single BlackBerry page for concise and clean browsing. The feature will also integrate the contact’s schedule and meeting information.

The development is being spearheaded by recent company executive T.A. McCann, who joined the firm by way of acqui-hire in 2011 with the sale of his company Gist. Gist began with the goal of helping users connect with their key contacts in a complete way, with a focus on creating and cultivating business relationships.

According to McCann, “BlackBerry has always had this heritage of productivity … We are just going to make it better yet again, when we launch BB10”. Many will be familiar with some of the aforementioned features if they own the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet and run the OS 2.0 Contacts app.
