When it comes to tablet industry, Apple’s iPad and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab series come to mind straight away because at the moment there is no other company that matches the superlative devices that these two tech giants have put forward. Although, recently Microsoft has launched its first ever hardware in the form of the Surface Tablet, it did not come to meet the expectations of users and fans due to a variety of issues.

Therefore, at this point in time, Apple and Samsung are ruling the tablet industry quite comfortably, but now it seems that another well-known smartphone maker is gearing up to give both these companies a good run for their money.

According to the latest reports, Taiwanese manufacturer, HTC is now also working on two Windows based tablets along with its range of smartphones and will actually reveal them relatively soon. The rumoured tablets from HTC will come in two different sizes; 7 inch and 12 inch and they will be running Microsoft Windows RT as their operating system. To the extent that the chipsets of the HTC tablets are concerned, they will come with Qualcomm chips.

The most interesting thing about the 7-inch tablet from HTC is that it will be a ‘phablet’ just like Samsung’s Galaxy Note I or II, as a person familiar with Taiwanese manufacturer’s plans revealed that users would also be able to make calls with the handheld device. Unfortunately there is no update regarding the release of these two tablets from HTC, but it’s expected that the company may launch them sometime during the third quarter of 2013.

Nonetheless this is not the first time that HTC has set up to introduce tablet-like devices, as earlier the multinational company had released two slates, the Flyer and after that LTE-enabled Jetstream. But after those products, HTC stopped working on tablets because Apple’s iPad rendered those previous devices obselete. The company then halted its tablets production and issued a statement in which HTC stated that we’re watching that market [tablets] very, very closely” and they will make a comeback if they think that they can “make a splash” in the industry. It appears that the market will soon be splashed.
