Soon Samsung’s Galaxy S IV will be seen in consumer’s hands as numerous telecom carriers open pre-orders for the handset which should be shipped at start of next month. The Samsung Galaxy S IV boasts some exciting new features along with specs that customers have already enjoyed on its predecessor, which makes it one of the top smartphones in the world. However, the popular Android device was not able to satisfy some people who feel that it is missing dust and waterproofing. Yes it is the same feature that Japanese electronics manufacturer, Sony has offered in its latest 5-inch flagship Xperia Z smartphone, which has made the handset more prominent than the rest. Nevertheless, Samsung is not far from producing such a similar handset, as an executive of the company, Young Soo Kim revealed that the South Korean manufacturer will launch a ruggedized edition of Galaxy S IV sometime later this year, which will be dust and waterproof.

Although, Sony has announced its Xperia Z smartphone at the start of this year, the company still has not made it available for sale in Canada, but Samsung on the other hand has made the Galaxy S IV public on March 14th and Canadians will get their hands on the flagship device in a couple of weeks time. Therefore, Canadians can expect that when Samsung will launch the dust and waterproof edition of Galaxy S IV in Canada as well.

However, some are of the view that Samsung may not release the ruggedized Galaxy S IV in the west because the demand for such a handset is expected to be too low and it will become tough for the South Korean company to justify the marketing costs and distribution of the device in the region. Aside from all this, the interesting thing to see about the ruggedized Galaxy S IV will be whether Samsung will produce a metal or tough back cover for the handset, which may be essential to make it dust and waterproof. The company may even have to complete redo the design of the Galaxy S IV.

But it’s too early to predict anything regarding the back cover and the design of the ruggedized version of Galaxy S IV. Therefore, it is best to hold our breath until Samsung officially unveils something new about the ruggedized device.
