Samsung Finally Makes Galaxy S IV Mini Official, Boasts Larger Screen than the iPhone

Samsung fans knew since March 2013 that after launching Galaxy S IV the South Korean manufacturer would soon release a smaller edition of the flagship device. These expectations reached a feverish pitch when several leaked images and reports which had revealed before time that Samsung has also developed a 4.3-inch version of Galaxy S IV that will be called S IV Mini. These reports started swirling in the tech world just a few days after the launch of the 5-inch Galaxy S IV therefore when Samsung finally announced the S IV Mini on Thursday, May 30th the news did not come as a surprise to many buyers. In fact, when Samsung made it known a few days back that it is holding an event on June 20th in London to premier brand new Galaxy and ATIV devices, numerous reports claimed that Galaxy S IV Mini would be among these devices. Now it is official that S IV Mini will see first light at the upcoming press event, where attendees will also be to get a hands-on experience with the new smartphone.

 

This will be the second time that Samsung is going to launch a smaller version of its flagship device, as earlier Galaxy S III Mini was released back in 2012. Although, Samsung calls the 4.3-inch smartphone mini, but in contrast to Apple’s iPhone the screen size of the forthcoming device is still bigger. Moreover, the specs of the S IV Mini are also not much different from its bigger 5-inch version, as it boasts a qHD Super AMOLED display, 1.7 GHz dual-core processor and comes with Samsung Knox, S Health, S Travel and S Voice apps. However, Samsung has made some compromises while making this handset most probably to bring down the cost of the S IV Mini, as it features an 8-megapixel rear snapper, 1.9-megapixel front facing camera, 1900mAH battery, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory which can be boosted up to 64GB with a microSD card.

 

As far as the connectivity of the Galaxy S IV Mini is concerned offers NFC, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS + GLONAS and IR LED to make it work as a remote control just like its 5-inch sibling. To the extent its dimensions are concerned it measures about 124.6 x 61.3 x 8.94mm or 4.9 x 2.4 x 0.35 inches, whereas the weight of the smartphone is 107g. The handset will be running the latest Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and it will support both 3G and LTE networks. Samsung will make S IV Mini available in two colour white frost and black mist in addition it will be able to support dual sims at the same time.
