Last month, we at TQ had informed you that the Samsung Galaxy S III had snagged the world’s most popular smartphone title from Apple’s iPhone on the basis of excellent sales during the third quarter of this year. A recent report based on pre-orders, live searches and post-paid sales data issued by uSwitch revealed that Samsung Galaxy S III has once again outshined the iPhone 5, as it remained the most popular smartphone in the United Kingdom for the 7th consecutive month.

With this triumph, the Galaxy S III has boosted its chances of winning the title of UK’s number one smartphone during the Christmas holidays as well. The sales chart that declared the Galaxy S III as the top selling smartphone in the UK was heavily dominated by Android based phones and surprisingly iPhone 5 failed to even achieve the second spot in the top ten.

According to uSwitch telecom expert, Ernest Doku, “The affordable price point has kept the Samsung Galaxy S3 at the top of the tree”. Aside from this, the decreasing contract prices of aging smartphones and still famous iPhone 4S did not allowed its latest edition to get a hold of second position in the top ten.”

The interesting part of the uSwitch report was that predecessor (S2) of the Galaxy S III was pronounced as the fourth most popular smartphone in the UK after the S3, iPhone 4S and 5. Fifth spot was gained by Google Nexus 4 from LG that has made its way into the top five with its solid early sales, as its stock in the UK was sold out in just 30 minutes after its launch.

As far as the remaining , thefive positions in the top ten chart are concerned the majority of them were filled by phones that were manufactured by Samsung. Galaxy Ace acquired sixth spot, Galaxy Note II came seventh and Galaxy Ace 2 captured the tenth position, whereas Sony’s Xperia U controlled eighth and HTC One X grasped ninth place.
