Samsung somehow managed to keep their recently released flagship device, Galaxy S IV, a secret until a few days before launch when several leaked pictures appeared over the internet. However the South Korean manufacturer failed to keep its next device a secret and a few pictures have emerged online which have revealed the smaller version of Galaxy S IV that will probably be called the Galaxy S IV Mini. SamMobile found the pictures first, which show that the mini counterpart has a similar design to that of 5-inch S IV. However, when it comes to specs just like Galaxy S III Mini, the S IV Mini lacks higher quality components. For instance the homemade 8-core Exynos processor of the Samsung Galaxy IV will not feature in its mini version plus the resolution of the display is also anticipated to be lower at 256ppi when compared to the the S IV’s 1080p at 443ppi. The S IV Mini will probably boast a 4.3-inch screen rather than having a 5-inch display like the S IV.
The Galaxy S IV Mini is likely to hot shelves in June, but no specific date of launch has been announced yet. Additionally, the price tag of the S IV Mini is also a secret at this point in time. Therefore, we have to wait for the official announcement of the forthcoming model not only to know the price and exact date of its launch, but also to know which telecom carriers will offer S IV Mini to their customers and whether Samsung will release the new model in the US market as well.
To the extent the processor of Galaxy S IV Mini is concerned previously it was expected to come with a dual-core 1.6GHz chipset, but according to the latest rumour the smartphone will possess a brand new chip called the Exynos 5210 which was recently developed by Samsung. In addition to this, the latest report also suggested that Galaxy S IV Mini will be launched sooner than expected.
The alleged Exynos 5210 chipset of Galaxy S IV Mini might not be as powerful as original S IV’s processor is, but still it is expected to be fairly potent, as it includes a dual-core Cortex A15 setup that can perform intense tasks and dual-core Cortex A7 to show vigorous power efficiency. Rumour also has it that the 4.3-inch S IV Mini will bear an AMOLED qHD display together with the same TW Nature UX 2.0 and it will be powered by Android Jelly Bean OS 4.2.2.
It is said that the Galaxy S IV will come in two versions including a single SIM HSPA+ edition (GT-I9190) with quad-core chipset and a dual SIM edition (the GT-i9192) with a dual-core chip.
