The Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) platform from Samsung known as the AllShare app, was not seeking help from external app developers to realize the potential of this technology, however now the South Korean electronics giant has had a change of heart. The company has just launched the AllShare Framework SDK that can be used to add features to third party apps. As a result of this fresh move, external developers can now develop AllShare-capable apps.
Given that the SDK has provided developers access to all key features along with screen sharing, control sharing and media sharing. Of these core features, screen sharing will enable users to share display straight away, if their television sets are HDMI enabled and they are using Wi-Fi Display or a dongle compatible device.
To the extent media streaming is concerned users will be able to share media content on their device through this feature with another device. The media content that users can share with this feature includes images, music and movies. It is compatible with all DLNA enabled devices.
The control sharing can be used for items like remotes. With these latest features APIs can be used for a variety of purposes, but in all aspects Samsung did not forget to include Smart Tvs.
Nonetheless, if we keep Samsung’s Smart Tvs aside, the multinational company still has enough of a cohort of products that it can easily attract external developers to develop some useful AllShare-capable apps. Besides this it is also anticipated that Samsung will now further improve this platform, as Galaxy device users could see new AllShare-enabled apps that will further boost their functionality.
