2012 has been a banner year for Korean personal electronics maker Samsung. The innovative firm has had strong release after strong release and with the upcoming Galaxy Note II set to launch later this month (TQ was on it), the company appears unlikely to succumb to any loss of momentum.

In fact, the world’s largest smartphone maker may not even be able to wait until the 24th to share a new creation with the world, sending invitations to an October 11 German press event earlier this week. Although the featured product is not made entirely obvious, there are definitely some suggestive clues riddled within the invitation. In the invitation photo (included below) it is evident that there is a large ‘S’ logo in the center of the page, in line with the company’s most popular line of smartphone devices.

More interestingly, the taglines for the device may be the most telling feature of the whole campaign, featuring the following message to invitees: “Prepare for something small to make a big entrance” as well as “”Ready for a little sensation?”. It doesn’t take a genius to put together the fact that the device in question is set to be small.

Rumours have been rampant that Samsung is intent on introducing a smaller version of their current flagship model, the Galaxy S III. The popular device, which features a large 4.8” screen may be too much for some to handle, making the idea of a smaller phone appealing to many who are used to iPhone sized devices. The introduction of a smaller device also puts said device in direct competition with the 4” screen iPhone 5, an added bonus for a company that just recently paid over  a billion dollars for patent infringement to the rival firm.

According to the good people at Sam Mobile, specifications for a smaller S III were found on the internet over a month ago. The S III Mini device is expected to feature a 4” Super AMOLED display, 5 MP camera, Jelly Bean OS as well as a dual-core CPU.
