Samsung has recently declared that its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S IV, has become the top selling handset ever in the history of the company. The official statement came from a Samsung executive who said that “As of the end of April, we supplied four million Galaxy S4 handsets to telecommunication operators around the world,” just 5 days after the smartphone was made available for sales. In contrast to Galaxy S IV, its predecessor S III managed to achieve this goal 21 days after its launch. Considering these initial number of shipments, it is not hard for anyone to guess that the 5-inch Galaxy S IV is on its way to become the best selling smartphone of Samsung. In fact, according to the latest report of The Korea Times, Samsung is right on course to sell 10 million units of the Galaxy S IV within the first month.
Talking to the reporters on Thursday, May 16th, co-CEO of Samsung Electronics Shin Jong-Kyun said that, “We are confident that we will pass more than 10 million sales of the S4 next week. It is selling much faster than the previous model S3.”
Samsung can easily achieve this mark because the Korean manufacturer has ample room to boost its sales, as US-based telecom carrier Verizon has yet to release the Galaxy S IV in the States. On top of it Verizon wants to make the most of the opportunity and the carrier has announced that it will make the Galaxy S IV available one week before it was originally anticipated. This suggests that perhaps the S IV has done even better than what the company had expected.
Verizon is not the only platform that will boost the sales of Samsung’s Galaxy S IV, as the search engine giant Google has also announced at its I/O event that it will make a “pure Google experience” edition of the flagship smartphone available from June 25th via Play Store running stock Android 4.2. This new edition of Galaxy S IV is likely to lure users, who are a fan of Samsung hardware and want to forgo the Korean firms layer on Android.
The S IV is both bootloader and carrier-unlocked, which gives the users a great advantage, as they can tinker with the operating system on the smartphone. It is because of these unique features the S IV is seeing big demand from consumers located around the world.
