When long time Samsung customer Shane Bennett requested Samsung Canada send him a free Galaxy S III via Facebook back in May before its official release date, he was initially offered a polite ‘no’ from online community manager Drew Bomhof. Bennett had even sweetened the request by drawing a custom cartoon dragon.

Bomhof, in the same spirit of humour and perhaps reciprocity included a personalized drawing of a kangaroo riding a unicycle in his polite rejection of the request. Bennett, tickled by the response posted a screen shot on Reddit (see below) and as things on Reddit often do, the post went viral.

The post earned so much recognition for Samsung that Bomhof, who seems like a good natured person decided to heed Bennett’s request.

According to Techno Buffalo, Bomhof invited Bennett to the official Galaxy S III launch party in Toronto and even gave him a surprise gift. Bennett decided to go back to Reddit to post the “token of appreciation for the positive media”. The custom made S III featured Bennett’s cartoon dragon drawing on both the front and back of the device as well as the default wallpaper. If that wasn’t enough, the phone, which is identical in every other way to other S III devices also came in a customized box featuring the same dragon. The device is the only customized S III in Canada.

We think this is an absolutely incredible story of how something can go viral in a positive way for all parties involved. Check out more photos of the awesome dragon phone here.
