Less than a week remains before the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013, but reports revealing different products that are to be featured have not stopped emerging thus far. As of late Samsung has teased its fans with an image of a new smart TV platform on its Samsung Tomorrow blog.

The vague image seems to be indicating towards the launch of a translucent portrait TV, as Samsung says it’s “true innovation of TV design is coming up with a unprecedented new TV shape and timeless design”. The new design looks pretty impressive, but it remains to be seen whether people are ready to accept a translucent portrait style TV or not. At this point in time Samsung has not given out any further details about this new platform so fans will have to wait for international CES 2013.

Earlier, the Samsung Tomorrow blog stated that they are introducing a latest HDTV called Smart Hub in the upcoming CES 2013 and it promises to show films and TV shows along with social networks, music, apps and much more. The interface of the upcoming HDTV will be divided into five different categories that are TV Shows (video on-demand), Movies, On TV (live TV), Social, Apps and last but not the least Videos, Movies & Photos.

In addition to this, users will also be able to experience a new way to navigate the menu of this forthcoming TV, with this latest function called “Flipping”. With the help of motion control users will be able to ‘flip’ their way through the screens. Samsung matches this “Flipping” function with the flipping of the pages of a book.

As far as the appearance of the menu is concerned it is quite akin to Microsoft Windows 8’s tile-based layout.
