Although Samsung’s Galaxy S III is the current talk of the Smartphone world, it seems like there is also a lot of excitement surrounding the company’s upcoming announcement of their Galaxy Note II.
According to TechRadar, the second generation of the popular and well-received Smartphone tablet hybrid will be announced at an upcoming press conference slated for August 29. This event falls just before the IFA; a major European trade show, creating a fair deal of buzz for the world’s largest phone maker.
The new version of the phone will feature an even larger screen, moving up to 5.5” from the current Note’s 5.3”. The phone is also expected to feature a more powerful processor and camera than its predecessor, possibly the same 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 and 8MP camera that is currently featured on the North American Galaxy SIII. The device should also feature the same type of stylus that is part of the current Note’s repertoire while also being thinner overall while having a longer battery life. The expectation is that it will feature Jelly Bean, Android’s latest and greatest.
The announcement date would indicate a possible October launch date, making the “phablet” available for delighted consumers just in time for the holiday season. It would also allow Samsung to release a powerful and viable competing device in line with some company named Apple and their sixth generation iPhone, which is expected to be made available around the same time.
Until the August 29 announcement, whet your appetite with a look at what the current Note does and expect even better.
