The hotel business can be cutthroat and the slumping global economy has the industry looking for ways to keep their venue desirable to the ever shrinking group of customers. Slashing prices may not be something that every hotel can afford to do and many company managers are figuring out that it is better to give customers more bang for their buck.

A tactic that is catching on quickly is investment in the latest technology to give hotel guests as many creature comforts as possible. That is why Four Seasons announced that its upcoming Toronto location will have iPads in every room. The hotel will also be offering free WiFi in every room and hotel transports.

The Four season’s Chris Hunsberger, executive vice president of product and innovation, spoke about the latest offering by stating, “Four Seasons has always anticipated the needs of travelers. Just as our hotels have always been like a home away from home, for business travelers, it’s an office away from the office. As we continue to introduce new innovations, we’re taking that service approach beyond the hotel itself and into our house cars and limos, helping our guests maximize their productivity from the moment they leave the airport—and even while they move around town.”

The Four Season is not the only one jumping into the iPad game. The high end hotel Opus in Vancouver and the luxurious Fairmont Pacific Rim has also giving its guests iPads in each room. Opus is well known for making each room unique by giving it a certain personality and the hotel has used the exact same concept with its iPads. The tablets come with personalities that define what types of apps are preloaded for guests. On the other hand, Fairmont Pacific Rim has installed each device with Intelity’s Interactive Customer Experience (ICE) technology which allows the customer interactivity with all hotel systems.
