Shopping online has many advantages for consumers including lower prices, convenience and the comfort of doing your purchasing in your pajamas. However, one major drawback for online shoppers is the wait for bought items to be delivered. Anxious buyers may need to wait days and in case of items in demand, even weeks for their latest acquisition to arrive in the mail. Shopify has tried to reduce the shipment lag by teaming up with ShipStation to give their customers an advantage over competitors. Thousands of businesses use Shopify to create their online stores and the website will now offer new customers and existing customers the ability to use the web based shipping solution from ShipStation.
Venture Beat broke the news about the new partnership in an exclusive piece that revealed that the new partnership will reduce the already lightning fast shipping times by several hours. ShipStation, which is based out of Austin, Texas, focuses on order import, batch label creation and returns management software. Shopify is not the only large player Shipstation has partnered with and has on its roster big names like eBay and Amazon. It’s no surprise that the startup currently handles 1 million shipping labels every month and has a strong base of 2,000 customers doing business online. With the addition of Shopify customers, ShipStation should expect further growth.
In recent months, Shopify has been announcing new integrations left and right. It seems that the website has been trying to differentiate its self from competitors like Magento and Big Commerce by giving its users more options. The last announcement was Shopify’s deal with Stitch Labs which would give a cloud-based solution to online retailers to manage inventory and orders. Not all these services are free and Shopify customers should expect to pay anywhere from $25 to $165 per month for ShipStation after the free one month trial.
