Sony i1 Honami to Debut on September 4 Along with New Sony Interchangeable Lenses for iOS and Android Smartphones – Report

It seems that Samsung is not the only company that is going to announce some new devices on September 4th in Berlin. Along with a online teaser video a recently published report has affirmed that the much anticipated smartphone from Sony, the i1 Honami, is also going to see first light on the same day in the same region. This definitely is great news for Sony smartphone fans, as they were anxiously waiting for the launch of i1 Honami for the past three months since its details had been leaked. This report has now made September 4th a significant day in spite of the fact that IFA 2013 event will take place just two days after this day in Berlin.

 

The major spec which had made the Sony i1 Honami such a hot phone is its 20.7-megapixel rear camera that not only has a Sony G lens, but also boasts an aperture of f/2.0 which would enabled the users to take clear images even in low-light settings. Prior to this, Sony has launched its Xperia Z smartphone with 13-megapixel rear camera in order to compete against the flagship smartphones of Samsung, HTC, LG and Apple. Thanks to Xperia Z, Sony’s phone division was able to saw excellent sales, which enabled the company to post decent revenue in the third quarter of 2013.

 

Moreover, as a result of excellent Xperia Z sales, Sony was able to raise its total number of share in smartphone market to 3.8 percent. Although, this percentage is quite as compared to Samsung and Apple’s share in the smartphone market, but with the launch of the i1 Honami, Sony is looking to further boost its presence in the global market. The Japan-based smartphone maker is hoping to sell 42 million units of the Sony i1 Honami during this year.

 

Apart from officially introducing the Sony i1 Honami on September 4, it is also expected that the Japanese OEM may roll out the all new interchangeable camera lens that will work with both iOS and Android powered handsets. According to the report, these lenses can attach with a phone through a magnet and pair with the handset through NFC or Bluetooth to enable users to take more intriguing pictures. There will be two different models of these interchangeable lenses, the DSC-QX10 and the DSC-QX100, which will not only include a microSD slot, but also have a display panel.
