Rumours had been making the rounds for a long time now that T-Mobile would soon carry Sony’s flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z. These rumours eventually turned out to be true when back in June, T-Mobile officially made it known that the carrier will be exclusively offer the Sony Xperia Z in the U.S. However, at that time T-Mobile did not reveal when exactly it will make the flagship device available for sale and the pricing of the smartphone. But now the carrier has announced that it will start selling the Xperia Z from July 17th at a price of $100 on a two year agreement of $20 per month. This was indeed a great feat for Sony, even though the company announced the Xperia Z at Customer Electronics Show back in January, T-Mobile will be the first wireless carrier with which the Japanese OEM will launch its flagship smartphone.

As far as the specs of the Sony Xperia Z are concerned the flagship device boasts a 5-inch 1080p HD Reality display along with the Sony Mobile Bravia Engine 2 and a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor. In addition to this, the Xperia Z also features a powerful 13-megapixel rear camera and a 2.2-megapixel front facing camera. The RAM of the smartphone is 2GB, while the internal storing capacity is 16GB, which can be boosted with a microSD card. The battery which powers the Xperia Z has a especially designed STAMINA mode that keeps the device alive for a very long time as compared to other smartphones available in the market.

Apart from this Sony has made Xperia Z both dust and water resistant, which is a unique feature, as it has not been offered American smartphone users before. Besides this the Xperia Z also comes with T-Mobile’s LTE network support. Below is an excerpt from the official announcement made by T-Mobile on this occasion:

“Xperia® Z from Sony. T-Mobile will be the exclusive U.S. wireless company to offer Sony’s flagship water-resistant Android™-powered smartphone to customers this summer.2 The Xperia Z will be available for $99.99 down, with 24 equal monthly device payments of $20 for well-qualified buyers for 0 percent APR on approved credit3 through T-Mobile retail stores and select retailers, as well as online at http://www.T-Mobile.com starting July 17.
