The basic idea behind the creation of the app was to make the need for the remote control obsolete and bring the mobile device to the forefront of TV control.

This will now be possible by using the Android phone to check out the guide, tapping on the channel and seamlessly start watching it on the big screen. The app is also a great way to track viewer’s favourite shows and see what is most popular at the moment. It also allows users to search IMDB, Wikipedia and YouTube as well without having to use a separate device to perform the task.
Best of all, this app is free for all Android devices and is now available for users of Apple’s iOS. The latest updates include multiple enhancements like new channel scroll bar and the capability to filter and sort shows by various aspects like series, titles and dates with PVR recording enhancement. At the moment, TELUS Optik TV offers over 620 channels, of which 160 of those are HD channels. Now missing your favourite television shows is just not possible anymore with this wonder of an app.
