One of the largest wireless carriers in Canada, TELUS, made it known on Monday, August 26th that from September 6th it will launch its wireless services and products in the Yukon and Northwest Territories of Canada. With the launch of these wireless services in the aforementioned areas the local residents of Fort Smith, Hay River and Yellowknife will not only be able to access just the 4G network of TELUS, but its 4G LTE network as well.

On this occasion the President and CEO of TELUS, Darren Entwistle said that, “TELUS is tremendously proud to offer its full suite of wireless products and services to residents of the Northwest Territories and Yukon. For the very first time, starting September 6, you will be able to purchase a smartphone or other device from TELUS and activate a local Yellowknife or Whitehorse phone number. At TELUS, we’re on a mission to lead the world in customer service reflecting our passion for excellence in caring for our clients.

We are committed to bringing all Canadians, whether urban or rural, in the spectacular north and from coast to coast, our world-class network and broad range of the latest smartphones and devices. We look forward to serving even more communities across Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut as TELUS’ 4G and 4G LTE coverage expands.”

The Executive Director of the Stanton Territorial Hospital Foundation, Rebecca Alty said that, “With patients from all 33 communities across the Northwest Territories, plus the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut – the largest geographic area in Canada – the Obstetrics Unit at the Stanton Territorial Hospital helps deliver more than 600 babies a year. To maintain the excellent level of care we provide to patients, the Hospital needs constant upgrades and it’s through generous partners like TELUS that we can accomplish this. We’re incredibly grateful for their support.”

This latest development will also force Petron Communications to further extend the network of its dealer stores to areas like Whitehorse, Yellowknife sometime later during this year and after opening they will feature TELUS Learning Centres.

In addition to this, TELUS will pay $25 to the Stanton Territorial Hospital Foundation in Yellowknife on the purchase or activation of a new smartphone by consumers living in Northwest Territories. At the same time, the wireless carrier will also contribute $25 the Yukon Child Development Centre on the activation of every phone number in Whitehorse. TELUS will run both campaigns from September 6, 2013 to May 6, 2014, while the maximum for each charity is going to be $2500.
