Punctuality is a skill that requires a great deal of discipline. People who value their time are often put off when others run late to meeting, events and social functions. Usually such people get late due to a myriad of reasons, the majority being things slightly outside their realm of control such as traffic jams and unexpected road closures.

A Selfstarter project called Bounce has finally put together a solid solution to this problem. The startup project will soon introduce a new Android based app for those who struggle with timeliness, aiming to help them reach their destination in time by sending them appointment type notifications similar to Google Now that will help the user identify ideal departure times given real time road and weather conditions.

Moreover, this mobile app will also enable users to know how much time they will take to find keys or reach their car apart from the journey through a customizable buffer. The prototype of this app has already been released and it was warmly welcomed by users, as more than 12,000 people have downloaded it for use. On top of that Bounce received tremendously valuable feedback from users. As a result, the company has started a crowdfunding project so they can raise funds to develop the iPhone version of this app.

To develop this app the team of Bounce require 5,000 investors investing at $5 each so as to enable them to release this application till the middle of next year.

The major reason to go with the Selfstarter crowdfunding plan was that Founder Justin Wilcox and his team wanted to set their target in accordance with the investors rather than funds, which was not possible with Kickstarter. Another reason for persisting with this plan was that Wilcox wanted his investors to present Bounce as a gift too, which was again not feasible with Kickstarter.

Therefore, to support this idea the company has already developed a “brutally honest e-card service”, so when the app will be released, this service would start sending e-cards to inform the recipients about their gift.

Describing about their Selftstarter plan, Wilcox wrote in an email that, “The benefit of being on Kickstarter is the nominal chance (we think it’s about 1%) you’ll get featured. That wasn’t worth having to wait for an approval process, giving up the e-card service, etc”. He also added that crowdfunding is now “socially acceptable” because of Kickstarter, but now this experience should be enhanced further as a viable funding medium.
