TQ App Review – Pulse

Pulse is an app for Android, iOS and HTML5 browsers, has gained popularity since its launch back in 2010. Initially asking the customers to pay for using the app, Pulse is now available to millions of users for free. The app is specifically designed for those who are interested in news regardless of the ‘beat’ they like. Pulse will collect stories on your favourite subjects and present them to you without any hassle in a concise and easy to navigate layout. Instead of browsing through a myriad of different sites in search for content, you can just use Pulse to gather your desired information from all over the internet.

What’s good?

Pulse has made internet surfing for news junkies easy. Be it technology, sports, politics, entertainment or any other beat, Pulse collects all the information from the internet (blogs, magazines and all the other sources) that could attract you, making browsing as simple as possible for you. Pulse also reaches out to your social networks (not all of them) and pulls data from there for you as well. Its design and interface are quite simple and that is what makes the app appealing. It will not bombard you with a lot of animated features opting instead to stay a text-friendly app.

What’s not?

While the app’s text-friendly nature is appealing for many, it has disappointed a few users as well. They want more animated features to retain their interest and Pulse, unfortunately, does not cater to their needs. Moreover, Pulse offers a limited number of feeds. The number of feeds could be plenty for non-regulars, but not for news enthusiasts.

Our Take

We think Pulse is a really good app because of the information it provides and the way it provides it. Instead of browsing through different websites, it allows you to find your favourite news items at one place and you can even save them to read later. However, if you are not very much into news and happenings around the world, you might not be very impressed with this app.
