It seems that Research In Motion (RIM) still has to face its share of past demons as the launch of its upcoming smartphone, Blackberry 10 is still a couple of months away. Until then, the Canadian smartphone manufacturing company has to bear the loss of past clients that have decided that switching to other popular smartphones available in the market would be better than waiting out RIM’s latest. Recently, another big chunk of RIM’s Blackberry commercial customer base is making the switch to a giant competitor.

The American National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) recently announced that they had also decided to switch Research In Motion’s Blackberry mobile sets with Apple’s iPhone. The United States government agency has stated that the main reason for announcing the change of Blackberry phones was the poor reliability of these mobile sets, which as you can imagine was a cause for irritation. According to NTSB, RIM’s Blackberry phones fail “both at inopportune times and at an unacceptable rate.”

NTSB is a large government organization that employs 400 people  with the major responsibility of investigating accidents involving aeroplanes. Therefore, this agency requires smartphones, which should be “effective, reliable and stable communication capabilities,” and Blackberry handsets produced by RIM do not meet this criterion, according to NTSB.

NTSB is not the only organization that has complained against RIM’s Blackberry phones, as several other major organizations in the United States have the same complaints for the Canadian smartphone maker. This includes top organizations like the Pentagon and Yahoo! as well. On the other hand, RIM is working on its forthcoming device Blackberry 10, so the company could make it free of all the hitches that Blackberry users are currently facing now, as it promises better functionality and cohort of features.
