The US-based global patient engagement software company, Get Real Health, has received “significant investment” from Vancouver-based TELUS Ventures. According to the TELUS Ventures the funding stake in Get Real Health “spotlights the potential both organizations see in the fast-moving personal health IT space,” as the fast growing industry is likely to reach $250 billion till 2015, according to the World Bank. TELUS says that the fresh funding will enable Get Real Health to speed up the development of new functionality and features of its software, offer its customers wide range of tools, further extend its sales and marketing efforts, build customer support and develop new strategic alliances in order to gain more market access.

On this occasion, the CEO and founding partner of Get Real Health, Mark Heaney said in statement that, “We at Get Real Health are very excited to deepen our excellent relationship with TELUS through this investment. Thanks to our longstanding relationship with TELUS Health, TELUS Ventures had a front-row seat to our rapid growth and our proven track record as a health IT innovator. The personal health market is hot—and getting hotter—which makes the timing of this investment a prescient move for TELUS and a game-changing opportunity for us at Get Real Health.”

Although, TELUS Health has been an InstantPHR partner of Canada from 2011, but then it has decided to develop associations outside the country as well.

The President of TELUS Health, Paul Lepage said that, “TELUS Health is committed to changing the way Canadians look at healthcare through the use of innovative health technology. We share a common vision with Get Real Health to effectively engage patients and motivate them to take a more proactive approach to their health. We are pleased to continue to grow our long-standing relationship with this latest investment.”

The vice-president of TELUS Ventures, Mathew George said that, “TELUS Ventures actively seeks innovative startups that assist healthcare organizations to dramatically impact patient outcomes. We are very pleased to partner with Get Real Health, a pioneer of patient engagement solutions, whose InstantPHR data visualization and care management tools are transforming the way healthcare organizations and practitioners interact with their customers.”

This was the first time when Get Real Health has gained funding from outside, but none of the companies revealed the exact amount of the transaction took place between them. Let’s hope that Get Real Health will able to make the most of this new funding.
