Vancouver based Vision Critical declared last week that it had acquired cloud-based service named DiscoverText that offers text analytics solutions. The organization was able to pull the deal off with the help of OMERS Ventures’ 20 million investment that was received last year in August. Vision Critical basically provides online platforms for two way communications with employees, clients and the general public that ranges from civic engagement to market research. Due to its unique services, the organization maintains a decent base of 600 clients, which includes one third of the top international brands.

Now with this latest acquisition, Vision Critical will look to combine the capabilities of DiscoverText with Insight Communities in order to mechanize the organization and categorization of thousands of records in the form of text in a more proficient and accurate way than before. So this would enable Vision Critical to yield better and quick decision making for its Insight Community clientele.

Explaining the acquisition, Group CEO of Vision Critical, Scott Miller said that, “Our clients engage their customers and stakeholders through insight communities to make better, faster, more customer-centric decisions. As we continue to marry qualitative and quantitative analysis, this new technology combines a machine learning, language agnostic, text analytics solution with our insight communities. This is a game changer for us, for our partners and for our clients.”

Hopefully DiscoverText will prove to be a “game changer” for Vision Critical and its clientele, but to what extent will only be determined with the passage of time.
