Vodafone, a mobile telecom company in Australia, is hoping to attract new customers after launching its new “superfast” 4G network across the country today. The company claims to be providing one of the fastest services in the country, though the service will somehow be affected depending on the coverage area and devices.

Nevertheless, the overall outcome of the testing phase for the new network seems highly pleasing to the Vodafone authorities who are confident of attracting new customers. Vodafone has 20MHZ wide-band spectrum that enables it to expand its coverage area and increase speed. Vodafone chief network officer Benoit Hanssen said:

“Our current advantage is our spectrum. Put simply, the wider the radio channel, the fatter the pipe, which translates into faster data speeds for customers. Vodafone is currently the only carrier that has this spectrum band in all five major mainland state capital cities.”

According to Vodafone, it has made significant investment in its 3G and 3G+ networks over the period of last 18 months and that it has enabled the service provider to reach the regional areas of the country along with serving the mainland Australia. Hanssen said:

“With average speeds 15 times faster than 3G speeds, not only is Vodafone 4G fast, it is reliable, and from today it can be your network if you live or work in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, as well as major regional centres of Wollongong, Gold Coast and Newcastle. The great news is that our coverage footprint is literally expanding every week and by the end of the year we plan to triple the number of 4G network sites.”

He also expressed satisfaction over the feedback the company has received from the customers who have used the 4G network and invited new users to join Vodafone’s extensive consumer base. He said:

“We’re now inviting everyone to take advantage of this superfast network. Our customers who are already using Vodafone 4G have told us over the past month they’re achieving faster data speeds than what they can get with fixed broadband at home.”

Meanwhile, Hanssen also announced expansion of Vodafone’s network to regional areas and said that the company would double the size of its call centre in Australia so as to ensure the best customer service.
