Research In Motion has paid a lot of attention to developing the software and hardware for it upcoming Blackberry 10 platform. The struggling Canadian company has also concentrated on other avenues to ensure the success of its product. RIM has formed alliances with several high profile companies which will help the Waterloo based firm jump back into the smartphone game by selling their new BB10 devices through their new partners. Recently RIM has added the leading multinational retailer Wal-Mart Stores Inc to this list in Canada, which gave the Blackberry maker another strong ally that can prove quite beneficial in battle against Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android.

The announcement was made by the spokesperson for Wal-Mart Canada, Alex Roberton, who said that Wal-Mart stores in Canada have started taking pre-orders of BB10 smartphones, which are slated to release on January 30. However, at this point in time, only Walmart stores in Canada are eligible to sell RIM’s latest BB10 devices, but it is expected that the stores in the U.S. may stock the forthcoming Blackberry handsets too.

Spokeswoman Sarah Spencer said that Wal-Mart is still finalising its plans for BB10 devices in the U.S.

RIM is relying on the eagerness of Canadians about the upcoming BB10 devices in order to boast its declining sales and give it the lift it needs to challenge Apple’s iPhone. RIM is quite hopeful about its upcoming products, as the initial feedback of its hardware and software is pretty encouraging because of which its share price has doubled from last September.
