After successfully launching its flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z, in various parts of the world, Sony is now all set to release the 5-inch beauty in Canada. For this purpose, Sony has joined hands with one of the top Canadian wireless carrier, Bell, to exclusively launch the Android smartphone this month. The dust and water proof Xperia Z sports a TFT capacitive touch display that boasts 1080 x 1920 resolution, a Quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait chipset, 2GB of RAM and 13-megapixel rear camera.

According to Sony, “Xperia Z has all the specifications expected from a premium smartphone plus water-resistance to handle whatever life throws at you.  Precision engineered with premium materials, Xperia Z has a unique design with subtly rounded edges and smooth reflective surfaces on all sides. Despite its slim 7.9mm body, Xperia Z is highly durable with tempered glass and anti-shatter film on the front and back, as well as the highest levels of dust and water resistance found in a premium smartphone.”

Talking about the launch of the new handset, Sony Mobile Communications’ Vice President of Marketing for North America, Tim Hernquist said that, “With Xperia Z, we are thrilled to bring a breakthrough superphone to Bell in Canada. The Xperia Z brings over half a century of Sony innovation to a superphone for an experience that truly stands out.”

The Senior Vice President of Products at Bell Mobility, Adel Bazerghi said on this occasion that, “With its amazing durability, Xperia Z raises the bar for superphones and Bell is proud to be the exclusive Canadian carrier of this innovative and much anticipated mobile device. Combined with the largest LTE network and Bell’s Mobile TV, which includes more than 30 news, entertainment and sports channels, Bell and Sony are making the mobile experience even better.”

Although, consumers will enjoy Xperia Z’s dust and water resistant feature, but it is expected that majority of them will be amazed with its new Battery Stamina Mode that keeps the handset alive for longer period of time. According to Sony, with this new software technology consumers can now enjoy improved battery timing, as it automatically shuts down battery-consuming apps whenever the display is off and commences them again when the screen turns on. As a result of that standby time of Xperia Z battery increases by four times or even more.

Bell will soon make the Xperia Z available throughout Canada in three different colours including purple, black and white.
