Samsung has launched its first 55” OLED screen television in Australia. The price for the screen is $10,999. Samsung in January at the International Consumer Electronics Show unveiled its first OLED television.  The displays of OLED or organic light-emitting diode have naturally luminous and colorful screens. When the screen encounters an electric current it emits light, this is due to the film of an organic compound that is fixed inside the screen.

The screen of OLED television is slightly curved towards an audience that provides them more immersive experience. According to Samsung Electronics Australia audio visual director Brad Wright, “The new TV type replaces LCD televisions, with the OLED screen delivering its own lighting source, brighter colors, much higher contrast ratios, pure blacks, and a faster response time to virtually eliminate motion blur.”

He further said that the company had been working on OLED screen TV since long time. “Today not only is our launching Australia’s first OLED TVs, but Australia is only the fourth country in the Samsung group to get this technology. This really is bleeding-edge technology.”

But Samsung is not the only company to design OLED screens in Australia. LG, a well-known electronics company of South Korea, announced it they will launch its rival OLED screen television by next week in Australia, but the prices of the television is not know yet. The new LG curved OLED screens would transfigure television in Australia, said LG marketing general manager Lambro Skropidis.

“Driving the evolution of TV in a new and exciting direction, the curved OLED is proof of our commitment to commercializing the most cutting-edge technologies,” Mr Skropidis said.

Both companies are also planning to launch 4K in 55 and 65 inch, in Australia. These are ultra high-definition televisions. The prices of Samsung television will be $4999 and $6999, while LG has not revealed the prices now. The screens of these televisions offer four times the resolution of existing full high-definition televisions. The 85-inch model of 4K televisions will be also launching this month, said the Samsung Electronics.
