BlackBerry has launched its new smartphone, the Z10, in Singapore, marking 10 years of presence of the Canadian-based company formerly known as Research in Motion. The phone will be available in the markets early in March.

In the next month, the company has planned a number of launches for the Z10 smartphone in different markets of Asia. The Z10 smartphone will officially reach different markets in the mentioned month, but there has not been any announcement with respect to the dates of these launches.

In Singapore, BlackBerry is available at three local operators that inclide SingTel, M1, and StarHub. According to ZDNet, Charles Dufourcq, country director for Singapore at BlackBerry, said of the company’s 10-year presence in Singapore:

“2013 is definitely a big year for BlackBerry in Singapore. Ten years have passed since BlackBerry smartphones were first officially introduced here. We expect BlackBerry fans will be extremely delighted with the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone powered by BlackBerry 10 OS.”

It has been around a month since the new BlackBerry smartphone was launched. It was available first of all in the U.K., and it later reached other potential markets including Canada and the UAE. The smartphone recently reached many European markets and it is now exploring other areas. Interestingly, the smartphone is yet to be officially made available in the U.S., which is considered to be one of its biggest markets. The smartphone, however, is reportedly going to available in the U.S. pretty soon.

The Z10 smartphone received positive reviews soon after its launch, but some later reports that mentioned statistics claimed that the phone had not been doing as expected. They maintained that the phone had failed to meet expectations as far as number of items sold was concerned. However, it is yet to be made available across the globe and it is not easy at this stage to determine the success it has achieved.

Meanwhile, it is expected that BlackBerry will have a massive launch for the new smartphone in Indonesia in March. The company has a stronghold in Indonesia, but its dominance is challenged in the country by other smartphones using Android. Still, BlackBerry claims to have a pretty healthy market in Indonesia and that is why it has planned a grand launch for its signature product there.
