The concept of smartwatches is not new, but California based Kickstarter project, Martian Watches, has given this idea a new direction by introducing Bluetooth voice command into their watches, allowing users to connect to Apple’s Siri through their iPhone. Martian Watches started their campaign at the beginning of this month and set a goal of $200,000.

It is expected that once people realise the true value of Martian Watches and what the devices are capable of, it is very possible that this product will beat the sales record of its predecessors (see Pebble). The reason for rating this product so high is that it can sync with the iPhone to activate Siri and also relay other voice commands. User can answer calls or make calls, send or receive text messages, use S-Voice, Google Voice or Siri to search for information, set reminders or events on their calendar.

In addition to above, Martian Watches also alert its users of incoming messages, calls, reminders and calendar events through vibration and features an OLED screen that displays text and an LED light. All these features and others combine to make Martian Watches a terrific creation that allows users to not have to dig deep or find their iPhone to perform various functions.

The co-founder of Martian Watches, Stan Kinsey, explained the concept during an interview by saying that, “Voice command to us was the ultimate solution for making the watch an extremely useful tool. More so than just trying to replicate what you can do on your phone.” Initial feedback that people have left on Martian’s Kickstarter Page shows a little concern towards the one way voice command system in Martian Watches, but it is anticipated that it would not hurt company’s $200,000 cause.
