Various electronics manufacturers will unveil an array of their new products at International Customer Electronics Show 2013 in Las Vegas, but aside from these gadgets visitors will also come across two different self-driving cars at this event as well. One of these two self-driving cars belongs to Toyota’s luxury platform Lexus, whereas the second one is produced by German car manufacturer Audi.

The prototype that Toyota has built is its Lexus LS 600h model and it is an “Ultimate High Performance Luxury Saloon” from this brand. With this automobile Toyota is looking to guide the industry in the new era of self-driving with the help of sensors integrated in it along with GPS, roof mounted lasers and artificial software intelligence in order to navigate roads and arrive at the destination in single piece.

Audi on the other hand did not provide any details about their self-driving car, but the German company guarantees that its automotive vehicle will bear the same inspiring features that Toyota’s Lexus LS 600h.

Although, the scope of such cars is limited at this point in time, the way different companies are making progress in this field depicts that soon this sector will become a real deal from just being a side project. As search engine giant Google is working on one that is producing self-driving cars from 2009. In fact Google is the most prominent company in this space so far.

However, now Toyota and Audi are looking to give Google a tough time with the revelation of their self-driving cars at CES 2013. Moreover, different states in America are considering legally allowing autonomous cars to drive on public streets, in fact Nevada has already approved this law.
